A warm welcome to the cosy Hostel Cafe Huvila! Our hostel offers unique and communal accommodation in a villa built in 1856.

This historic and precious villa has recently been lovingly renovated for our guests.

Hostel in the best location in Oulu

Hostel Cafe Huvila is located in Toppilansalmi, Oulu, close to all services. Nearby you will find one of the best K-Supermarkets in Northern Finland, a pharmacy and pizzerias. Within walking distance is the lovely Nallikari and the beautiful walking/biking trails of Hietasaari.

Oulu city centre can be easily reached on foot or by bike (about 3 km) or by bus in about 10 minutes. There is a bus stop a couple of hundred metres away.

There are plenty of parking spaces and free parking in the yard of our hostel. An electric car charging point will be added to our site later, when the yard work is completed.

Our hostel can accommodate up to 30 people. The villa has one double private room and five shared rooms for 4-6 people.

Guests have access to a shared kitchen and lounge area and shared bathrooms. Linen, towels and basic breakfast items are included in the price.

Arrival and check-in at the hostel

Arrival

Our hostel is located at Panimotie 1 in Toppilansalmi, Oulu. If you arrive by car, you can easily leave your car directly in the yard of our hostel, where there are plenty of parking spaces and free parking.

From the airport

Hostel Cafe Huvila is 20 km from Oulu Airport (taxi about 45 €, travel time about 22 minutes).

From the railway station / city centre

Buses 8 and 9 take you to the centre of Oulu, from where buses 4, 21, 20 and others go to Toppilansalmi. Travel time is about 46-60 minutes.

From the bus station

The distance from the bus station to our hostel is about 3,9 km. The easiest way to get there is by taxi, bus or walking in about 10 minutes.

Check-in

Our hostel uses self-service check-in, so you can stay at the hostel according to your own schedule.

The room/bed will be available for you from 15:00 on the day of arrival. On the day of departure, the room/bed must be vacated by 11 am.

Access to the hostel is by key code, which you will receive before your stay.

RESERVATION: When making your reservation, you must provide your name, address, telephone number, credit card number and estimated time of arrival. A confirmation message will be automatically sent to the email address you provide as soon as you make your reservation. If you cannot find the confirmation, please also check your spam folder. The booking is binding.
 
PAYMENT: we charge all reservations immediately upon booking. If for any reason the reservation is not paid at the time of booking, it will be paid immediately upon arrival at the hostel. Additional services are payable at the time of booking. We accept most major debit and credit cards as well as cash (euro).
Businesses and organisations have the possibility of invoicing their accommodation. A billing agreement must be signed prior to your stay. The hostel will charge a surcharge of €5 per invoice.
 
ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE: The room/bed is available from 15:00 onwards on the day of arrival. On the day of departure, the room/bed must be vacated by 11 am. If you wish, you can leave your suitcase in the hostel’s storage room. For security reasons, only checked-in guests are allowed to stay in the hostel premises and rooms. All hostel guests must have an official identification document with them.
Our hostel operates on a self-service check-in basis. Before your arrival you will receive an email/phone with check-in instructions. We will always be happy to help you if you have any difficulties with check-in. Our on-call number is +358440841510.
 
CANCELLATIONS:
The customer may cancel a one-day room or bed reservation free of charge up to 12 noon on the day before the reservation. Except for reservations with a limited cancellation period. These restrictions are indicated at the time of booking, please read them carefully. 
In case of no-show, the hostel reserves the right to charge one day’s stay and cancel the reservation. The hostel reserves the right to cancel the reservation if payment is not made immediately. No refund will be made if the reservation is modified, cancelled or if the guest fails to arrive.
If you have made your reservation through a booking site (e.g. booking, airbnb, etc.), please contact them directly for any modification/cancellation of your reservation.
 
PETS: Pets are welcome in the Blue Room (4-bed room) when you book a full room for your party. Well-behaved pets can also stay in the café with their owner. If you are travelling with a pet, please always contact us before booking. 
 
RESPONSIBILITY FOR VALUABLE PROPERTY: Hostel Cafe Huvila is not responsible for any damage to or loss of your valuables during your stay. Please take care of your belongings!
 
RESPONSIBILITY FOR DAMAGES: as a guest of Hostel Cafe Huvila, you are responsible for any damage caused by yourself, your travel companion or your pet on the hostel premises, whether intentionally or unintentionally caused. Hostel Cafe Huvila reserves the right to charge the amount of the damage caused to the guest. We hope you will treat our Huvila with care!
 
CHILDREN: Children are warmly welcome to stay in our hostel with an adult. Only children over 18 years of age are allowed to stay in shared rooms. Older children may stay in a shared room with a carer. Families with young children should preferably book a room for their own use. Travel cots for small children are available, please let us know in advance. 
 
ADDITIONAL SERVICES: you can book additional services during your stay, we will be happy to assist you with any questions or needs you may have. Laundry service is available at an additional cost (5€/per session). Room cleaning is not automatically included in short-term bookings – we will clean the floor surfaces in the rooms as required. Bed linen can be changed on request and at an extra charge for short stays.
 
PRE-ORDINARY ARRIVALS: Our hostel operates a self-service check-in system. Before your arrival, you will receive check-in instructions and codes for the locks on the hostel and your room doors. We hope that you will pay attention to other guests staying at the hostel if you arrive late.
 
FORCE MAJEURE, HOSTEL RULES AND LEGAL RIGHTS:
We will respect good hostel manners and hostel rules. In the event of a breach of these rules, the guest may be immediately removed from the hostel premises. In this case, the guest will still be obliged to pay for his/her stay and any additional services already ordered. The guest does not have the right to claim a refund of any payments already made. The hostel shall not be liable and shall not pay any compensation if the performance of its obligations has been prevented or affected directly or indirectly by force majeure or as a result of circumstances beyond its reasonable control. These include, but are not limited to, extreme adverse weather conditions, natural disasters, acts of terrorism, fire or the collapse of electricity, water or other services, machinery or buildings. The Hostel shall not be liable for loss of or damage to property left on the Hostel premises except as required by applicable law. Finnish law shall apply exclusively. The data of the guest will be kept for at least 12 months and may only be disclosed at the request of a public authority or otherwise as required by applicable law.
 
Hostel Cafe Huvila reserves the right to change prices, conditions and information. Hostel Cafe Huvila will treat all customer information in the strictest confidence.
